Eduardo Lemos (Reckless, Cazino) from Porto is a bit of a celeb in his home country, making regular appearances on national TV, between the pages of the gossip magazines and receiving thousands of plays on YouTube
Dear Sherlock a triumph through time and space…
– December 12, 2011Posted in: Arts & Entertainment, Music, Performance, Previews
On the 22nd December Fruit, on Humber Street will be transformed for Christmas Noir: an altogether darker alternative to the usual glitzy tinsel laden festive fun.
Christmas Noir is the joint brainchild of good friends Daniel Mawer and Jamie Gray both hugely talented musicians from Hull. The event will act as a unique platform for Jamie to showcase new music project Dear Sherlock, alongside friends La Bete Blooms and Dead Hormones. They describe the night as being…
‘A huge, dark, fun and musically infused take on Christmas! Think… The Nightmare Before Christmas with a DJ, a bar, a stage, trees, decorations and a selection of epic live acts.’
Jamie Gray, self-taught pianist, has risen sharply through the ranks of Hull’s ever-evolving music scene. He began in 2006 as the driving force behind alternative classical infused indie band Black and White Tango, playing in venues across the country including dates at Leeds Cockpit and Manchester Academy. Then, with the other band members all at University, he embarked on a series of solo projects and collaborations with artists throughout the U.K receiving accolades at every turn.
Since the age of 15 Jamie has been learning his craft, not only the playing, but composing and now producing. In the intervening years he has worked at Fairview Studio under the tutelage of respected artist/producer James Markham, studied Creative Music Technology at the University of Hull and ran a successful open mic acoustic night at Big Coffee in Anlaby. Now having built a home studio he records local bands himself and gives them the benefit of his, by now, extensive knowledge about how to get a foothold in the music world.

For Dear Sherlock, Jamie has teamed up with two equally creative minds from Porto: the Brazilian Eduardo Lemos (Reckless, Cazino) and from Portugal,Daniel Carvalho (Cazino) both of whom have the same passion, desire and drive that Jamie has shown throughout his early career.
Jamie, Daniel and Eduardo have been working together on Dear Sherlock for the past few months, despite the thousands of miles between them and of having never met in the real world, the three artists have found working over the internet a real spur in their song writing process, ‘It’s like we have a shared brain,’ Jamie jokes. That ‘collective brain’ has been busy impressing industry minds with interest for ‘Supernova’ coming from NBCUniversal
Dear Sherlock will be officially releasing their first single ‘Supernova’ in 2012 and announcing UK and overseas tour dates. For a sneak preview of the new single listen here
Eduardo Lemos, on the prospect of coming to Hull for Christmas Noir:
“I’m very excited to perform our collective noise live in the UK. So far this has been a truly fulfilling experience and I´m proud of the work we´ve done, which is the result of a genuine collaboration… So, I hope that we can entertain people and with that get the chance to come back more often!”
